In this course we ‘ll explore interesting new ways for your scales and arpeggios practice. In this course we will combine major 7th chords with major scales in all 12 keys. It will help you learn your scales and build dexterity and slide coordination. Let’s first look at what a diatonic arpeggio is.
Take the C major scale: C D E F G A B , you can build chords from each degree of the scale by stacking thirds on top of each other. Start on the first note C and then move up it in thirds, meaning that you skip every alternating note: C D E F G A B
To get more notes for your chord, just keep adding thirds on top.
Starting from C we’ll have C E G B which give us Cmaj7,
Starting from D we’ll get D F A C which is Dm7
etc.
