“Playing scales is like a boxer skipping rope or punching a bag. It’s not the thing in itself, it’s preparatory to the activity.” Barney Kessel
In this section, I will show you how to incorporate bebop scales in your jazz improvisation. The bebop scale stems from the bebop language invented by Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Bud Powell and other legendary jazz musicians from the early to mid-1940’s.
Dr. Barry Harris has further developed the concept of bebop scales and taught them on a worldwide basis in his improvisation classes for half a century.
