This is great! I love this song. I have a question. How should we properly think of the logic of the chord changes through the first 16 bars? Does it go V7 to I until we get to G? Or does it start on a dominant 7 and keep going up in 4ths until we get to G? And how much does it matter how we think of them?
And not to be nitpicky, but I think the 2nd note in the first bar is an F# instead of F natural.
Thanks!
Hi Tom, think of each chord independently and play the scale that fits it. For G7, use the G mixolydian bebop scale.
Hi Tom. I see that the first bar has a conflict with tab vs note marked. I believe the F# is correct. Must be a tabulating error. The F neutral didn’t agrees with my ear when I played it…
Mauny, you’re right, the tab is correct. I didn’t notice because I usually only read the notation. The tab does indicate F#, which must be correct, because like you say, F natural sounds wrong. Also, F# fits the chord, F natural does not.
I like this song ! I´m looking forward to the next videos and explanations about this great tune. When I just practice courses about certain scales its difficult for me to use them on a concrete song. For me it´s better to have a song that I like and then understand the scales and arpeggios to use with Yvonnicks explanations. Greetings, Björn
Hi Yvonnick, please continue this course in the new year, that would be great ! I worked on the theme and your great improvisation, it was great fun ! Greetings, Björn
Tom, the ears don’t lie, LOL
